33. Tirzah. This city, which had been the capital of Jeroboam ( 14:17), continued to be the capital of Israel under the house of Baasha, and down to the reign of Omri ( 16:23). It was once a royal Canaanite city (Joshua 12:24), and was famous for its beauty, like Jerusalem (S. of Sol. 6:4).
