8. Righteousness. This expression may refer either to a holy life or to upright dealing; “without right” may refer to the opposite of either. Riches without righteousness bring no peace of mind and cannot guarantee health of body, nor is there contentment in the possession of ill-gotten gain. But the little that the righteous man has gained in right ways brings a full return of happiness and arouses no envy or cupidity (see 13:7, 25; 15:16).
