Ye that ride on white asses - Perhaps צחרות אתנות athonoth tsechoroth should be rendered sleek or well-fed asses; rendered asinos nitentes, shining asses, by the Vulgate.
Ye that sit in judgment - מדין על ישבי yoshebey al middin ; some have rendered this, ye who dwell in Middin. This was a place in the tribe of Judah, and is mentioned Joshua 15:61.
And walk by the way - Persons who go from place to place for the purposes of traffic.
Ye that ride on white donkeys - i. e. nobles or magistrates. Deborah appeals to the classes mentioned in Judges 5:6-7, to bear witness to the happy change that had followed the overthrow of Jabin.
That sit in judgment - Rather “that sit on saddles, or horse-cloths,” a further description of those who ride on asses.
In an Easy, Winning, Courteous Manner—As a people we should cultivate kindliness and courtesy in our association with those whom we meet. Let us avoid any abruptness of manner, and strive always to present the truth in an easy way. This truth means life, eternal life to the receiver. Study therefore to pass easily and courteously from subjects of a temporal nature to the spiritual and eternal. A most courteous manner characterized the work of the Saviour. Seek in the most gentle way to introduce your mission. While walking by the way, or seated by the wayside, you may drop into some heart the seed of truth.—Manuscript 55, 1908. PM 307.2
