41. Zorah. A town probably in the Wadi eá¹£-á¹¢arar about 14.7 (23.6 ) west of Jerusalem. It was the home of Samson’s father, Manoah (Judges 13:2, 25). Here Samson was born, and between Zorah and Eshtaol he was buried (Judges 16:31). Both Zorah and Eshtaol, and probably the Irshemesh mentioned in this verse, were, at first, given to the tribe of Judah ( 15:10, 33). Ir-shemesh and Beth-shemesh may have been the same, since they both have the same signification. The first means “the city of the sun,” and the second, “the house of the sun.”
